Sliding Window Brush Seal and Pile Weatherstripping

Sliding window brush seal, also called window seal brush, window strip brush or woolpile weatherstripping, is the PP yarn pile that closes the gap between a sliding sash and its frame. We supply it for aluminum and UPVC sliding windows, matched to the old strip or the groove, in regular, siliconed or finned pile.

Sliding window brush seal for aluminum and UPVC frames

Every sliding window needs a seal that closes the gap without stopping the sash from sliding. Rubber gaskets press against the glass or frame; a brush seal does the same job with flexible PP yarn pile, so the sash can move along the track while dust, air, light and insects are kept out.

This page covers brush seal for sliding windows in general: replacing the strip in existing windows, supplying window accessory shops and stocking common sizes for aluminum and UPVC sliding frames. If you are an aluminum profile system company working from drawings for each slot, see the aluminum window brush seal page.

Regular, siliconed or finned pile for a sliding window

Start from what the window uses now. Regular pile suits ordinary gaps and is the usual repeat choice. Siliconed pile is chosen when the sash feels stiff or the window faces sun and rain. Finned pile adds a center fin when dust, wind or water still come through a regular strip.

Where the brush seal sits in a sliding window

A typical sliding window uses brush seal along the sash perimeter, at the interlock where two sashes overlap and sometimes on the insect screen frame. Positions can use different sizes, so measure or photograph each one when replacing.

  • Sash perimeter against the frame track
  • Interlock or meeting rail between sashes
  • Insect screen frame
  • Sliding balcony doors with the same system

Sliding Window Brush Seal FAQ

What is the brush seal on a sliding window called?

It is called brush seal, pile weatherstripping, wool pile, woolpile, window seal brush or window strip brush. They usually mean the same PP yarn pile strip.

How do I know which size to order for replacement?

Measure the backing width and pile height of the old strip with a caliper, or photograph its end beside a ruler. Sizes are written as base width x pile height, for example 5x7 mm.

Is the same brush seal used on aluminum and UPVC sliding windows?

The pile is the same type; the size follows the groove of each frame, so aluminum and UPVC windows often need different base widths.

Should I choose siliconed pile for sliding windows?

Choose it when the sash feels stiff with regular pile or the window is exposed to sun and rain. Otherwise regular pile is the usual repeat choice.

Can I order several sizes and colors together?

Yes. Send the size and color list with quantities; each item is packed and labeled separately.
